History & Background
A “Boarischer” is a style of dance popular in the historic alpine region of Germany and Austria. This dance is very upbeat and lively, compared to the more moderate-paced Landler.
The verbal history of our group reports that this song is actually about a girl named “Gretl” in search of a boyfriend.
When we perform this dance, we often invite members of of other dance groups to join us. Unlike many of our dances which require a specific number of participants, this dance can have any number of dancers!
